Yerevan, Armenia – April 16, 2024 – The National Polytechnic University of Armenia, in partnership with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the Web3 Armenia Foundation, proudly introduced a groundbreaking educational initiative. This innovative program stands out as the world’s first offering a Bachelor’s degree in “Blockchain Technology and Web3,” signifying a significant advancement in Armenia’s high-tech education landscape.

The event showcased significant addresses from key figures including Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of the Ministry Of High-Tech Industry of The Republic of Armenia; Gor Vardanyan, Rector of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia; and Artyom Harutyunyan, Founder Evangelist of the Web3 Armenia Foundation. They delved into the strategic significance of integrating blockchain technologies into the educational sphere and the projected influence on Armenia’s digital economy.

Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan underscored the government’s dedication to fostering innovation:

“Initiatives that align with both local and global market demands hold strategic importance for us. This endeavor serves as a tangible testament to the collaboration between universities and the private sector. Such strategic programs will receive enhanced support from the government, especially from the Ministry of High-tech Industry.”

Rector Gor Vardanyan expressed his enthusiasm for the program, envisioning Armenia as a trailblazer in the realm of education:

“Today marks a dual triumph for us. Through the joint efforts of the university and the Web3 Armenia Foundation, we have successfully materialized the Blockchain course. This program, co-funded by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the RA, not only imparts fresh knowledge to students but also equips them with the skills to secure professional opportunities, undergo requalification, and remain competitive. Furthermore, we have established the sustainability of the project and introduced a novel professional educational program, “Blockchain and Web3 Technologies.”

Within the context of perseverance and content creation, we initiated a program, obtained the license, and today we proudly declare it as the pioneering educational program conferring a bachelor’s qualification. There are currently no existing plans worldwide to cultivate specialized professionals in this domain,” the rector emphasized.

Artyom Harutyunyan shared his perspective on the partnership:

“Through the launch of this program, we are bridging the chasm between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Our foundation is thrilled to collaborate with the Polytechnic University in nurturing a new cohort of technologists poised to spearhead the advancement of Web3 and blockchain technologies on a global scale. This enterprise will position Armenia as a frontrunner in digital education and innovation.”

The bachelor’s program, developed in conjunction with esteemed experts from the Web3 Armenia Foundation, aims to furnish students with comprehensive understanding and hands-on expertise in blockchain technology and its diverse applications. The meticulously crafted curriculum addresses the escalating demand for proficient individuals in this cutting-edge tech sector, fostering a milieu of academic distinction and pragmatic issue resolution.

Enrollment for this groundbreaking program commences in 2024.
