Update on Shibarium Network Outage and Latest Developments
Shibarium, the designated layer-2 blockchain of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, encountered a temporary network disruption that affected its operations during the past weekend. Kaal Dhairya, a well-known developer within the Shiba Inu community, has shared an update regarding the situation.
According to Dhairya, the network interruption on Shibarium was a result of networking complications among the validators. Validators play a crucial role in verifying transactions on Shibarium and upholding the network’s reliability.
The issue has been successfully addressed after persisting for several hours. Nevertheless, certain Shibarium services such as Shibariumscan, the official block explorer of the network, and external RPCs are still facing downtime.
Dhairya emphasized that these services will continue to be affected until specific corrective measures are put in place. As a proactive measure, external developers engaged in Shibarium’s infrastructure development are urged to reach out to Dhairya for coordinated communication via shared Telegram/Slack channels.
Shibarium Achievements and Recent Progress
Recent developments within the L2 network have been noteworthy, particularly the substantial increase in daily account growth. On April 13, Shibarium observed a remarkable surge in new account registrations, with 13,314 accounts being added in a single day.
This surge propelled Shibarium’s total accounts past the 100K mark, currently tallying at 102,303 accounts. The spike in daily registrations signifies the highest recorded daily growth rate since Shibarium’s inception in August 2023.
Past Network Challenges and Recovery Efforts
The recent network disruption is not the first instance of Shibarium encountering operational issues. Shortly after its launch in August 2023, Shibarium faced a significant technical setback that led to the temporary unavailability of its mainnet RPC.
Subsequently, Shibarium transitioned to private mode while developers diligently worked to rectify the situation. Following two weeks of intensive optimization, Shibarium successfully reestablished its mainnet operations and has since maintained its functionality.
Transaction Metrics and Market Impact
Data from Shibariumscan reveals that the L2 blockchain has processed a substantial total of 417.35 million transactions to date. Additionally, Shibarium boasts over 1.78 million addresses and has generated more than 4.32 million blocks.
However, the daily transaction volume on Shibarium experienced a notable decline in recent days. While reaching nearly one million transactions on April 15, the current daily transaction count has dwindled to 10,040.
Uncertainties Surrounding Transaction Decline
The exact cause of the decline in Shibarium’s daily transaction volume remains ambiguous, with possibilities including the recent network disruption or the prevalent market volatility.
