Strategic Collaboration between IIT K and ‘Blockchain for Impact’ to Drive Healthcare Innovation in India

The strategic partnership between the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Blockchain For Impact (BFI) has been announced under the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program. The primary goal of this collaboration is to foster innovations and drive advancements in healthcare within India.

Under this initiative, BFI will provide support to IIT Kanpur in promoting entrepreneurial endeavors through the Startup Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur. A Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed at IIT Kanpur by Prof Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni (DoRA) at IIT Kanpur, and Dr Gaurav Singh, CEO of BFI. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Prof Ankush Sharma and Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay from SIIC, IITK, as well as Dr Satya Prakash Dash and Dr Pooja Agrawal from BFI.

As part of this collaboration, BFI has committed to allocating over USD 150,000 over three years to develop tailored programs for healthcare-focused startups at IIT Kanpur’s SIIC. This partnership capitalizes on IIT Kanpur’s established expertise in nurturing entrepreneurship and BFI’s dedication to advancing biomedical research. Together, they aim to create impactful solutions that address crucial gaps in India’s healthcare sector.

Prof Kantesh Balani of IIT Kanpur expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the potential for knowledge sharing, enhanced startup support, and capacity building efforts. Similarly, BFI CEO Dr Gaurav Singh commended the entrepreneurial spirit of IIT Kanpur incubatees and emphasized the alignment of their mission with the goal of accelerating impactful biomedical research solutions.

This collaboration marks a significant advancement in healthcare innovation within India by leveraging a combination of expertise and resources from both institutions. The partnership holds great promise in enhancing public health outcomes and promoting accessible healthcare for all individuals.
