In a bid to position Ghana as a frontrunner in the utilization, development, and nurturing of talent in blockchain technology to address critical societal needs, Eric Annan, together with a dedicated founding team, embarked on a transformative mission to establish the Blockchain Builders Association of Ghana (BBAG).
Within a span of just under seven months, BBAG has accomplished significant milestones, demonstrating its steadfast dedication to fostering innovation and empowerment in Ghana.
By conducting intensive boot camps, BBAG has provided essential blockchain skills to over 100 young individuals, laying a solid foundation for a new breed of tech-savvy innovators poised to influence Ghana’s digital landscape.
Furthermore, the association has effectively organized three impactful events in partnership with global entities such as the Ethereum Foundation, Base Decentralized Developer Meetup, and Stellar Foundation Ecosystem Meetup. These collaborations have not only enhanced Ghana’s reputation on the global platform but have also facilitated invaluable knowledge exchange and partnership opportunities.
BBAG’s outreach initiatives have reached esteemed institutions like Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Garden City University College.
At these institutions, students have had the unique chance to interact with global leaders in infrastructure, fueling their enthusiasm for blockchain technology and paving the way for future innovations.
In alignment with sister associations across Africa, the United States, India, and other regions, BBAG is dedicated to spearheading discussions on policies among stakeholders to establish a conducive environment for blockchain innovation. Through promoting collaboration and deterring malicious entities, BBAG aims to instigate radical transformations that will benefit the Ghanaian economy and society at large.
Amidst prevalent misconceptions regarding blockchain’s capabilities beyond cryptocurrency, BBAG remains resolute in its belief in the revolutionary potential of decentralized technologies. The association advocates for advancements like Decentralized Identities (DIDs), Real-World Asset Tokenization (RWSTs), and Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) as pivotal drivers of global financial inclusion and prosperity.
As Ghana approaches general elections, BBAG urges political leaders to adopt blockchain technology as a catalyst for positive change. They underscore the myriad ways in which blockchain has empowered Ghanaian youth to emerge as leaders, innovators, and creators, enriching society in immeasurable manners.
While discussions on blockchain technology within Ghanaian media are still nascent, BBAG underscores the significance of education and awareness in shaping public perceptions. The association calls upon the media to play a crucial role in fostering informed dialogues and advocating for the potential of blockchain technology to propel Ghana forward as a global frontrunner in innovation.
Under the leadership of a diverse and seasoned founding team, BBAG extends a warm invitation to all forward-thinking individuals to join them on this journey. Together, they aim to establish a collaborative network of innovators, educators, policymakers, and creators united in their quest to drive positive transformation and advancement in Ghana’s blockchain ecosystem.
