The roar of a humorous horn, a sweet vending machine, and a jukebox blaring everything from Mozart to heavy metal form the backbone of the “Crypto Champions” vehicular adventure.
The “Crypto Champions” have entered a Bitcoin-themed car in the 8,000-kilometer Baltic Sea Circle Rally, spreading Bitcoin awareness amongst fellow racers and spectators at every stop.
The two-man team, comprised of Cercatrova, the democratically-elected leader of the German-speaking Bitcoin community Einundzwanzig, and his trusty co-driver, Daktari, have embarked on this enlightening expedition. Their Bitcoin-emblazoned car will traverse nine Northern European countries over the course of the race.
Cercatrova offered an insight into their adventure from his location above the Arctic Circle:
“This rally is essentially a charity-driven event. It includes 150 teams, and the course covers Hamburg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the entire Baltic Sea. Over a period of 16 days, we cover 8,000 kilometers, and interestingly, we’re the only team representing Bitcoin – no other cryptocurrency-themed teams are part of the event.”
Driving Crypto Awareness:
Their mission is two-fold: propagate Bitcoin knowledge and raise funds for a coffee farmer in Panama and a peer-to-peer ride-sharing application developed on the Lightning Network in El Salvador. They’ve been busy “orange-pilling”, or introducing people to Bitcoin, at every possible opportunity.
Christian, founder of Seedor, a Germany-based metal Bitcoin backup company, is closely monitoring their journey. He shared that during their stay in Norway, the pair successfully introduced the campground owner to Bitcoin.
Cercatrova recounted that thus far, they have discussed Bitcoin with roughly 30 people. Those who show interest can scan the QR code on the vehicle to receive complimentary satoshis or small amounts of Bitcoin.
“When people see us and inquire about Bitcoin, we invite them to our car, help them install a wallet in less than 30 seconds, and they’re always surprised at how quick and simple it is”, Cercatrova stated.
Crypto on Wheels:
The car also features a Bitcoin-compatible candy dispenser, allowing beginners to purchase sweets using their freshly-acquired satoshis.
For those following the adventure from the comfort of their homes, the car is equipped with Lightning features. A remotely controlled jukebox and horn can be operated globally. Fans can request songs via a Lightning-enabled Telegram group for a small fee, and for 3,000 satoshis, enthusiasts can honk the car’s notably boisterous horn.
The jukebox’s eclectic range of music from classical Mozart to heavy metal and crypto-related tunes adds a fun element to the journey.
So far, the Crypto Champions have amassed roughly 4 million satoshis ($1,200) for their chosen charities, a figure that may grow with the increasing number of satoshi donations. The team is midway through their journey, aiming to cross the finish line by the end of June.
Investigative reporter Joe Hall added his touch to the journey by setting off the horn during a phone interview and requesting a famous Rick Astley tune on the car’s jukebox.
