Despite being in the testnet phase, Avail is already engaging in collaborations with its new partners to facilitate integration.
Avail, an innovative blockchain solution focused on improving data availability for rollups, has partnered with five layer-2 protocols to boost scalability, cost-efficiency, and developer adaptability. The protocol recently announced that Ethereum-based scaling solutions such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, StarkWare, and zkSync will integrate its Data Availability (DA) layer into their platforms.
Anticipated Launch of Avail’s DA Layer
The integration aims to empower developers with scalable, cost-effective, and modular chains capable of accommodating a vast user base.
Once the integration is finalized, the DA solution will serve as the foundation for a unified architecture, ensuring mathematical assurances of data availability and featuring a built-in validator ecosystem for the networks.
Furthermore, it will enhance transparency on the chains, assisting in fraud prevention on individual platforms and enabling reliable operations beyond the Ethereum blockchain.
It is important to highlight that Avail’s DA is currently in the testnet phase, with the mainnet launch underway. Anurag Arjun, the project’s co-founder, has confirmed the imminent mainnet launch, expected to take place in the upcoming weeks. The platform was introduced last year among the new protocols in the crypto space, alongside initiatives like Celestia, launched in October, and Eigenlayer’s EigenDA, which went live earlier this month.
Progress Towards Mainnet Launch
On April 24, Avail unveiled Turing, its ultimate pre-mainnet testing environment, in preparation for the official launch. Turing has been intricately crafted by the platform for thorough deployment vetting, stress testing, and scalability assessments.
Earlier this year, Avail announced plans to introduce two core products: Nexus and Avail Fusion.
Nexus, serving as the blockchain unification protocol, will function as a connecting layer for various rollups within the Avail ecosystem. Conversely, Avail Fusion will leverage the security attributes of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (Ether) to bolster its overall security framework.
Empowering Blockchain Networks
Despite being in the testnet phase, Avail has already commenced collaborations with its new partners for integration. The protocol is closely working with OP Labs, a key contributor to Optimism, to ensure a seamless integration within its ecosystem.
According to the announcement, Orbit chain builders on Optimism will now have the option to select Avail DA post-integration instead of relying on AnyTrust’s external Data Availability Committee.
Avail DA is also set to integrate with the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), a vital element of Polygon’s AggLayer network. Marc Boiron, the CEO of Polygon Labs, emphasized that developers will be able to create interconnected blockchain solutions once the integration process is completed.
Boiron stressed the significance of providing such flexibility to developers, particularly when the ultimate aim is to nurture a thriving and robust ecosystem of interconnected blockchains through the AggLayer.
StarkWare and zkSync are also partaking in this advancement. Integration with these platforms will streamline the deployment of ZK-powered blockchains, enhancing throughput, scalability, and user experience across diverse platforms.
